Hallmarking

It is UK law that all precious metal items over a particular weight (depending upon the type of precious metal) are tested for metal content and hallmarked accordingly by the Assay Office.

The jewellery that I make undergoes such testing and is hallmarked as 999 Fine Silver, with my personal hallmark, that of the Assay office who do the testing and hallmarking, and the year the item is made.  (If an item has not been hallmarked it is because it is under the specified hallmarking weight.)

999 means that there are 999 particles of silver per 1000.  As a comparison, Sterling Silver is 925/1000 because it includes other metal to increase it’s hardness.  999 Fine Silver is a softer but purer silver and, I have found, does not tarnish as quickly as Sterling Silver.

Nickel

I know that some people do have a sensitivity to Nickel in jewellery, and so I feel it appropriate to mention the EU Nickel Directive, which can be found online by typing ’EU Nickel Directive’ into your Search engine or visit www.nickelinstitute.org for more information.  In a nutshell, the directive refers to the rate at which nickel is released from a product into the skin, when in prolonged contact, and what is legislated to be an ‘acceptable’ rate.

My Sister-in-law and I both have a sensitivity to Nickel to varying degrees, however neither of us have had any reaction wearing the fine silver jewellery that I have made.

Copyright

All completed jewellery creations, commissions, photographs and contents of this website are copyrighted to me (unless stated otherwise) and as such can not be used by any other person or organisation without my written permission.

It goes without saying that I do not claim copyright of any texture plates, stamps, moulds, trinkets or any other items utilised in the design and creation of my work.

Returns Policy

All the items I make are handcrafted by me, and as such are checked for any imperfections or flaws before they are made available for purchase.  Some irregularities in design can be expected due to the nature of the raw materials with which I work, thereby adding to the Individuality and Uniqueness of the item. If for some reason you are not happy with my Jewellery, please telephone me immediately to advise, having first considered the information below.

Refunds are not available against Earrings.

Jewellery
In the case of you ‘changing your mind’ for whatever reason, I will allow you to exchange the item for item(s) of a similar or greater value, providing this is within 7 days of purchase.  The item must be returned to me unworn and in its original packaging by the 7 day deadline, and you will be responsible for any costs incurred in its return.

Defective item
Should any of my creations break or be found faulty within 28 days, and this is found to be a fault with my design or creation of the piece, then in the first instance I wil consider whether a repair or a redesign/remake is an option. If this is not an option or something you would like, then I will offer a full refund for it, providing it is returned to me within the 28 day deadline.  I will also refund the postage incurred for the return of the item. This does not apply to any damage other than a flaw in my design/manufacture.

Commissioned Items
Please refer to the Commission Process in the first instance.  Should a commissioned piece break – the refund policy is the same as for a Defective item.

Workshop
To secure your place on a workshop you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit. However, if you need to cancel your place on the workshop, I will consider the following: -

  • Up to 30 days before the workshop date, a full refund of the deposit will be made.
  • From 30 days before the workshop date, a full refund cannot be guaranteed but may be possible - providing I haven’t already ordered the materials for the workshop.
  • If materials for workshop have been ordered, your deposit is non-refundable but can be carried forward to secure a place on a future workshop.
  • If you do not turn up for a workshop, you will lose your deposit and you will not be able to carry the deposit to a future date, unless under exceptional circumstances and at my discretion.

Please note: - I reserve the right to alter workshop dates without prior notice - if deemed appropriate. This is unlikely to occur if a workshop already has bookings, however if not enough students to make the workshop viable, then an alternative venue and/or tuition option may be offered instead..
