Silver Clay?

PMC is a fantastic medium with which to make Fine Silver jewellery.  Made in Japan by Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, PMC comprises of Fine Silver particles combined with an organic binder and a little water, which is commonly used in clay form, although is also available in paste, syringed piping or ’paper’ style.

During the firing process, either by hand held torch or by kiln, the binder and water burn away leaving pure silver, ready to be polished, shined and finished, to wear yourself or give as a gift to a loved one.

PMC in its fired and finished form is 99.9% pure silver and as such needs to be hallmarked as 999 Fine Silver if it is to be sold, and its weight is over 7.78g. As a comparison sterling silver is only 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% being copper and other components.

With training you can learn to develop your skills in PMC to use it with solid fine silver wire, dichroic glass, cubic zirconium stones, real gems and cabochons, enamels and PMC ready findings.

Introductory Workshops in PMC will give you a base knowledge to start you on your way with your hobby of making silver jewellery, or maybe you would just like to come along to make something as a gift or for an occasion.
